It's OK To Have Self Care Days
“You can’t pour from an empty cup. Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s necessary.”
I’ve been a mom for almost 2 years now and everyday since our first was born, I’ve wanted to give our kids everything I had. My strength. My faith. My experiences. My laughter. My joy. My praise. All the good, bad, and everything in between.
I give our kids everything I have, sometimes to a fault. Lately my days have been ok to start, and before 11am I’m drained. Tired, foggy, and wanting to just sleep. Then I realize I haven’t eaten, drank water or taken my vitamins. Sometimes I forget to brush my teeth or wash my face. I can go up to a week without showering because I’m in mom-mode from the moment I wake up til late at night.
Today I got my lashes and hair done. I can’t count how many times I told Michael how guilty I felt for leaving the house to do these things. “I feel so selfish.” I don’t know where I got that mentality from, but it needs to stop.
Today I drove through the country with my windows down and music blasting.
It’s ok to take care of yourself.
It’s ok to get your nails done.
It’s ok to get a massage and go to a spa.
It’s ok to leave the house for a few hours to get some fresh air, or read, or even sit in your car alone.
Thank you @kristinaa.rose for making me feel like a woman again. I’m not just a mom and a wife. I’m me too.

"Today recharged me. We all need self-care days. Because you can’t give your all when you have nothing left to give. To take care of yourself is to take care of others."
Thank you for being a part of my journey.
